Winning team at Wembley!
Geoff Hurst - 1966 world cup hero - meets the Dragons at Wembley.
Jealously which was coupled with huge amounts of uncontrollable envy was absorbed by the Goodchilds staff as they were told they were too old to play and although Goodchilds are proud to be one of their sponsors – it didn’t secure the Goodchilds staff a place on the pitch under the iconic Wembley arch.
Jacqui Parfitt - Dragons Club Secretary - commented:
"What an incredible day that all participants will undoubtedly remember and cherish for the rest of their lives. The likelihood of any of them playing at Wembley again is, realistically, remote which only adds to the occasion.
There were 54 participating teams from all over the country, playing initially on 8 pitches at Northwick Park in Harrow . Then off to Wembley Stadium in the afternoon, where the players met England manager Fabio Capello, and all had a team photo taken with 1966 World Cup hero Geoff Hurst.
Each team then played one 10-minute match on the hallowed turf; this was then followed by climbing the 107 steps to be presented with a commemorative medal. All players had earlier been given a sports bag with various goodies, including a t-shirt and coaching tips, so all-in-all full marks to McDonalds who clearly put a lot of money into the day. On the way out of the stadium Dragons stopped for a final photo session around the Bobby Moore statue in the entrance area."
So a big Goodchilds Well done! to the Dragons and of course the staff and family members that dedicate time and energy to the Dragons team.
